Workshop on Cultural Sensitivity

On September 24, Klaas and Yaneth (members of ICF Noord in Rotterdam) are organizing a workshop on bridging cultural differences to connect people from diverse backgrounds. The workshop is entitled: Shared Understanding: Bridging Cultures, Connecting People.

Culture often operates like the air we breathe—it’s all around us, yet we seldom notice it. Explore how culture shapes our hidden assumptions and unconscious biases. We’ll reflect on our values, appreciate others’, and create space for meaningful dialogue. In this talk, gain practical tools for small actions that can spark significant change.

There is a limited number of seats at this workshop – don’t miss out!

Research into intercultural pioneering movementOnderzoek interculturele pioniersbeweging

Hans Euser conducted research into the strength and vulnerability of intercultural pioneering places in the Netherlands on behalf of the PKN.

The research ‘Boundary-breaking pioneering’ not only provides insight into the development of the pioneering movement over the past ten years (2013-2023), but also delves deeper into the challenges that pioneers face in the multicultural society in which they operate. Be inspired, encouraged and sharpened!

Retreat day for preachers and pastors – ‘Learn from Me’

November 18, 2024 – De Wittenberg in ZEIST – Retreat day Migrant Church, for multicultural pastors. Register quickly, early bird – discount until November 1! Check the website Leervanmij.nl for more information.

Everyday practice all too often robs us of time. In particular, time of rest. Can you make a different move? We serve the Creator of time: what does Jesus want to teach you, so that you can find rest in your life and ministry?

Come to the special, multicultural retreat day on Monday, November 18 at the Wittenberg in Zeist and find that place in seclusion with like-minded people. Come to rest and receive nourishment for your soul in the hustle and bustle of your work together with colleagues from different churches and cultural backgrounds.

Prayer, rest and space. In every corner of the church, in every culture, the pastor with a responsibility for pastoral care needs a place to become silent.

Led by retreat leader ds. Niek Tramper, we seek prayer, peace and space with preachers and pastors from different church and cultural backgrounds.

How intercultural is our liturgy?

Do all cultural groups feel involved in worship? And if not, how can you best change that?

Experience shows that it really has an impact if you are intentionally involved in interculturality and think together about diversity and unity in your church. What can you do and what are the consequences for your specific community?

Leendert Reek, a theology student at CHE (now graduated), conducted research into liturgy in ICF Wageningen for his studies. The title of his research is ‘Coming together in worship’ and you can download ithere.
